I have introduced more evening and weekend classes, please take a look below.

All classes take place in my studio unless otherwise stated. There are some steep stairs – please let me know if this is a problem.


Introduction to Hairpin Lace

A beautiful crochet technique which involves making a column of crochet stitches instead of rows. Weave and crochet strips together to make a wonderfully light, cheerful fabric suitable for shawls, tops, scarves, etc. You will create a set of sample swatches to take away with you, and lots of ideas about how to use what you have learnt. Includes handouts, yarn and a kit to keep.

Sensational Crocheted Squares

It’s back! New and improved handouts, patterns and more stitches! Over 3 weeks, learn how to make basic crochet stitches, read patterns, change colour and much, much more! We will make the classic granny square and a variation of it, and look at other motifs. At the end of the course, you will have the confidence to buy a magazine and make a project out of it.

Learn to Knit

Learn to make basic stitches you need to follow patterns you find online and in magazines. Find out how to cast on and off, work with colour, make patterned stitches, ribbing and basic cables, and join pieces beautifully. You will make a set of swatches which can be joined together to make a small blanket or cushion cover, then you’ll be starting your own knitting adventure!

Tunisian Crochet Day

This is THE crochet technique to learn this year! Looks beautiful, and deceptively simple. We will look at basic stitches, working in the round, and experiment with different types of yarns and hooks. Take home notes from the day and a set of swatches you can use to plan your next tunisian crochet project.

Knit socks 101

Come along and learn how to make a miniature sock. We will make a short sock on double pointed needles to learn the techniques used for shaping and making a basic heel and grafted toe. You should be able to knit and purl stitches before you come.

Open Studio Sessions

Bring a project to work on in the company of like-minded creatives. Anything goes – knitting, crochet, weaving, painting… Equipment is available for use, including a badge machine, drop spindles, spinning wheels, various hooks, shuttles, etc. (If you want to use a particular piece, please ask in advance).

Every Wednesdays 12 – 2.30pm

Oxheys Knit and natter / improvers

Join us to learn new crochet and knitting techniques at your own pace. Just choose your pattern and come for help along the way, as needed.

Fridays 10am – 12pm

International Womens’ Day

Oxhey Mill Studios will be open for the day on the 8th March, featuring exhibitions and open studio sessions with many of our artists in residence. Do drop in!

Pins & Needles Craft Group

Bunch of friendly, lively crocheters and knitters formed after Worldwide Knit in Public Day. Now including a meeting of the Knitting and Crochet Guild, members of the public are welcome to drop in and find out more about classes, the work of the Guild, and join us for a chat and a knit.
